Can you believe it’s the year 2024?!? I certainly can’t believe it.
Sometimes when life becomes busy it’s easy to forget all the blessings that surround us, and we tend to lose perspective. As we move into the new year, remember you don’t have to make unrealistic resolutions, drastic decisions or huge proclamations. Remember to take one day at a time, set daily intentions and reflect on your accomplishments. One way, I reflect on my accomplishments is by practicing Gratitude.
Gratitude is a simple yet life-transforming shift in one’s mindset. A grateful heart opens up infinite doors for abundance and joy to flow freely into your life. And Gratitude has been proven to significantly help us improve our mental health and build a happy life.
Weekly Gratitude Ritual
During the ‘Quarantine’, I intentionally started practicing a weekly gratitude ritual that has become one of my favorite mindset practices. During the ritual, I look back over the course of the previous week and write down all the milestones I experienced in both my personal life and business.
I usually end up with a page full of accomplishments in my journal and I feel so grateful about all the things I DID do instead of beating myself up for all the things I didn’t do. I can say with certainty, I’m proud of myself and I’m excited about the next chapter of my life!
Here’s my gratitude list and the accomplishments I’m celebrating over the last year:
- Grateful to see my daughter graduate college from thee Tuskegee University.
- Continuing to decorate each room of my home to reflect my current design style.
- Scheduled monthly grooming and pamper sessions.
- Celebrated 39 years of friendship with my Bestie.
- Enrolled in an entrepreneurial and investment course for the upcoming year.
- Began working out at the gym (again) regularly to remain physically active.
- Increased my daily water intake.
- Implemented a lifestyle change which will lead to BIG health benefits. Includes eating ‘clean’ proteins and tons of veggies and fruit. Within the first (2) weeks of eating ‘clean’ and eliminating sugar; my entire being felt better which resulted in weight loss, a healthy gut, a strong immune system and a robust dose of Confidence.
- Appeared in my 1st podcast interview, She’s Crowned with Confidence.
- Featured in Golf Central Magazine.
- Hosted VisionBoard Workshop at Center for Black Women’s Wellness.
- Travelled on vacation (4) times this year.
- Attended several concerts: Usher, Janet Jackson, Boy George, LL Cool J, Kirk Franklin, and Beyonce.
- Favorite Movies: The Lil Mermaid and The Color Purple.
- Continued to expand the Bella Luve’ Goes Pink, Inc. brand; the 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, which advocates breast health, amplifies breast cancer awareness in the Black and Brown community and honors the life of my Mom who lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer. I’m celebrating my courage to move forward and step out on Faith with this vision. It’s a cause near and dear to my heart.
- Secured Partner/Sponsorships with Kendra Scott Jewelry and StitchFix for non-profit, Bella Luve’ Goes Pink, Inc.
If you’d like to write your own Gratitude List, I have shared a few suggestions below:
Journaling Prompts for Your Own Gratitude Ritual:
- What experiences happened to you recently that made you feel excited and grateful?
- Who in your family or circle of friends encourages and uplifts you when life becomes heavy?
- When was the last time you laughed out loud?
- How do you plan to celebrate your wins?
If you’re starting a gratitude practice for the first time, don’t overthink it or try to force it. Simply select a time of day where you’re most relaxed and able to reflect. If you’re a morning person, then try your gratitude practice during breakfast. If you’re a night owl and you’re more creative in the evening, try your gratitude practice prior to bed. It’s important that if you’re starting a new habit, you’re also realistic.
Happy Journaling!
