Self-care is not selfish—it’s essential to living fully and giving back to those around us.
Why Self-Care Matters
In a world that’s always on the go, it’s easy to put your own needs last. But taking the time to care for yourself is not only a gift to you but also to everyone you impact. When you’re grounded, energized, and intentional, you show up as the best version of yourself—in your relationships, career, and personal goals.
Building Your Self-Care Foundation
This year, I created a Self-Care Board as a visual reminder of the practices that keep me grounded. Unlike a Vision Board, which focuses on future goals, a Self-Care Board sets the tone for the present, helping you prioritize what your body, mind, and spirit need right now.
Here’s what’s on my Self-Care Board and how you can design yours:
- Prayer & Mindfulness: Begin and end each day with moments of stillness. Connecting with faith or practicing mindfulness clears your mind and strengthens your spirit.
- Rest & Recovery: Quality sleep and downtime are non-negotiable. Give yourself permission to rest—it’s where true rejuvenation happens.
- Exercise & Nutrition: Moving your body and nourishing it with healthy food fuels you to tackle whatever life brings your way.
- Gratitude & Journaling: Reflecting on what you’re thankful for and journaling your thoughts helps you stay positive and self-aware.
- Travel & Exploration: Sometimes, self-care means stepping away to recharge. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a dream trip, exploring new places can offer fresh perspectives.

As a natural giver and boutique event planner, I’ve learned that self-care is key to sustaining my ability to create and give. Whether you’re planning events, running a nonprofit, or simply juggling life’s demands, taking care of yourself is the ultimate act of empowerment.
A Season for Self-Care
According to ancient calendars, Spring marks the true new year—a season of renewal and growth. While winter invites us to slow down and reflect, spring is the perfect time to bloom and bring new intentions to life. This is why I’ll create my Vision Board during the spring, aligning it with the energy of the season.
For now, I’m focusing on self-care as the foundation for the year ahead. I encourage you to do the same!
